They say good things come in pairs, so here is our new (first) locomotive and our new blog!
Starting with the locomotive, it's been a labour of love but the end product is something we're all very proud of and represents a platform that we can build on physically and organisationally for the years to come.
It has two motors driving four axles through a belt drive, all this is powered by an AC system with a DC Lithium Ion battery. The frame is constructed from aluminium extrusion and has GRP body panels (in HW blue of course). The design philosophy for this year has been KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) so there isn't much bells and whistles (however there is a horn, as per the rules) but that's the whole point, the design allows us to modify and fine tune next year and over the years ahead.
We're looking forward to getting the judges feedback at competition and seeing what the other teams have come up with. If you'd like to come along to competition then you can book tickets here. We look forward to seeing you there (look out for the Navy jumpers).
And finally about the blog, we hope to post (semi) regular updates on our progress and on anything else we find interesting, it's mostly to keep a record for future years and to to share our progress with interested parties.
